Igor Papirov is the head of the laboratory of National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology", NAS of Ukraine. He is a Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor.
Today he leads the research on creation of new materials and devices for cardiology and brachytherapy. For half a century he participated in creation of materials for nuclear and space technology. He participated in the study of physics of mono- and polycrystalline plastic deformation within a wide range of temperatures. He developed new methods of severe metal deformation. He obtained plastic and superplastic beryllium as well as a number of other ultra-fine-grained materials with high mechanical properties for the first time in the world. He is the author of 137 monographs, about 400 academic papers and 60 patents. He is a Laureate of Ukraine State Prize, head of a large number of grants on international cooperation in the development of new materials.
